on our way again

It is 1640 local time and we are 55nm from Bora Bora, out of sight of land, 480nm from Rarotonga, on a course of 238T. We took off at 0715 this morning in 25-knots of NE wind, flying southwest at 8.5-knots with a single-reefed main. It was delightful, but didn't last too long. The wind has progressively lightened and we have just turned on the engine. After a few (more) sat phone calls to Raymarine, we FINALLY have got the new autopilot working about 15 minutes ago, so NO MORE mandatory hand-steering!
The reason we left this morning, instead of yesterday - unfortunately! - is that Dan hurt his knee pretty badly yesterday while stowing the dinghy in the "hole." It was one of those searing pain knee injuries that happens out of nowhere in a spot on his knee where he's already had surgery (15 years ago). He is currently unable to put any weight on it, but we have decided to keep going because he is hopeful that it will improve in a few days. He is making his way around the boat like a monkey, and
we are cycling ice packs through the freezer.
We are hoping to make it to Rarotonga by Sunday afternoon. Bora Bora was a beautiful sight to behold as it receded into the background.
