the not-so-idyllic, character-building part of cruising
Tuesday night, 10PM local. After another very full and hot day of, “if it’s not one thing it’s another,” we have got our engine running, our batteries fully charged, 40-gallons of water made, and the fridge is even on. A few calls to Denis (my dad) today for an alternator issue, and we finally got the system working. We motored around and even anchored near all the other cruisers (after being outsiders all week on the other side of the bay) so we can be closer to shore for a grocery run tomorrow before we weigh anchor and TAKE OFF! We will head for Fakarava atoll in the Tuamotu Islands, an island chain of atolls with supposedly some of the most challenging navigation in the world!
