American soil

We stood off Tutuila Island in American Samoa and came into the harbor at first light this morning. We have heard from many cruisers how awful the harbor of Pago Pago is, and unfortunately much of what they say was immediately evident in the form of garbage and debris practically covering the water's surface. But we are glad to be here and it looks like there may be some good exploring to do on the other side of the island. Time to catch up on some sleep after a very windy, bumpy, but great passage.
